You may know of October 12th simply as a day off, but it is for Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples' Day. Whichever day you choose to commemorate, just know that it is in the name of American history.

Indigenous Peoples' Day "honors the Indigenous people of the Americas, recognizes the ongoing impact colonialism has had on them, and celebrates the many different cultures of Indigenous peoples," according to Dictionary.com.
