Famous Greeks Part IV: Politics Edition
We're sure you know that since the founding of the first social fraternity in 1825, all but four of the United States presidents and vice presidents have been Greek organization members. Keeping with the election fever that is being fueled on college campuses across the nation, Something Greek is taking our most popular blog topic, Famous Greeks, and applying it to the political scene!
Former President Bill Clinton is a member of Alpha Phi Omega.
George H. W. Bush is not only a former United States president, he is also a former Delta Kappa Epsilon president.
Condoleezza Rice is a member of Alpha Chi Omega.
Ronald Reagan was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
Franklin D. Roosevelt was a member of Alpha Delta Phi.
Like his cousin, Theodore Roosevelt was a member or Alpha Delta Phi. He was also a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
And now the ones you're really interested in:
Current President Barack Obama and current Vice President Joe Biden were never part of a Greek organization.
Mitt Romney doesn't appear to have Greek affiliation either. There is evidence that Romney expressed some interest in the recruitment process during college, but he never went through with it.
I am happy to announce, however, that Paul Ryan is a member of Delta Tau Delta.
We hope you enjoyed our political version of Famous Greeks! Make sure you get out and vote on Election Day! The Greek community's voice is a very important one as we are the future leaders of America!
